PRESCRIPTION DRUG RING

New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan announced the indictment of four members of a citywide operation involved in the illegal trafficking of prescription medications.

Members of the organization purchased prescription medicines from Medicaid patients at a Brooklyn bodega. The drugs, including HIV medicines, Percocet, Vicodin, Insulin, and Nexium were then transported to an apartment in Manhattan, where they were repackaged and resealed to appear as though they were in their original containers and then shipped to black market buyers in New York State and foreign countries.

The investigation was conducted with the New York City Police Department, the City's Human Resources Administration and the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office.
