NEW YORK CITY SPECIAL NARCOTICS PROSECUTOR BRIDGET G. BRENNAN AND POLICE COMMISSIONER RAYMOND W. KELLY AND THE SEIZURE OF 15 POUNDS OF HEROIN IN THE BRONX
New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan and New York City Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly announced the arrest of Elisael Sanchez, 35, in a Bronx parking lot last night. Sanchez was in possession of 15 pounds of heroin with a street value of at least four million dollars.
The parking lot is located at 1998 Bruckner Boulevard on the corner of White Plains Road in the Bronx. Sanchez, seen earlier with a bag containing the heroin, was arrested in the back seat of a tan livery vehicle in front of an electronics store. Another individual with Sanchez fled and has not been apprehended.
Some of the heroin was loose, but most was still compressed and packed in the shape of a cylinder. The ten cylinder-shaped bundles of compressed heroin were about 4 inches tall 3 inches wide and in a shape and size similar to a can of soup each weighing a little over a pound. In addition there were four bags of loose heroin each weighing over a pound.
Narcotics Borough Manhattan North Major Case detectives conducted the investigation and made the arrest. The case is being prosecuted by the Office of Special Narcotics Prosecutor. Sanchez was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First and Third Degrees and Conspiracy in the Second Degree.
This investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
